The UK Forum for Digital Currencies has now become a part of CryptoUK and the British Blockchain Association who are both heavily involved in the promotion of the cryptocurrency industry. CryptoUK boasts a significant 150 members of the community, companies, and institutions on its website, while the British Blockchain Association has a more global view with universities, blockchain associations, and other international entities in its membership.
A coalition of UK organizations, including the City of London Corporation and four trade associations, have united to create the UK Forum for Digital Currencies. Their stated mission is to advocate for “better policies, practice and regulation around digital currencies”. Other members of the forum are the Digital Pound Foundation, Payments Association, CityUK, and UK Finance.
Together, they will work on responding to developments in the cryptosphere, such as central bank digital currency and the regulatory approach to stablecoins. Additionally, the forum aims to “align the associations’ education programs and policy advocacy” with the UK’s regulations and create a unified lexicon for the sector.
The UK Forum for Digital Currencies follows the creation of the UK Industry Digital Currencies Coordination Group, made up of the Digital Pound Foundation, Payments Association and UK Finance, in June. This new forum joins CryptoUK and the British Blockchain
Association in their efforts to promote the crypto industry. CryptoUK boasts nearly 150 members and the British Blockchain Association has a global reach, with members coming from universities, blockchain associations, and other organizations.
